A Sense of Humor by Cynthia Scott- Fly Leaf Journal

I had the opportunity to work with the team at the Fly Leaf Journal. I illustrated a cover for a short story by Cynthia Scott. It is about a severed hand. It was a really fun project and working with Matthew Jankiewicz was a blast. The flies were a bit of an ode to Barron Storey's Lord of the Flies cover. He was my teacher and this was the first kind of cover art I had done as a paid job. Many thanks to him. John Gall was another influence I had as I was working on these, particularly his covers for Haruki Murakami. I can't wait to get a copy of the issue which comes out in March. The story was a fun and quick read.
